A movie poster recently I did for Todd Myers' movie. The story happened in East Bay, around my current office. It is about Mexican and American's conflicts in 19th century. 

Changing World

Had woken up very early in the morning to capture some video clips before work. It is interesting to see how we changed everything we saw. Reminds me a popular quote by Julius Caesar: “Veni, vidi, vici. (I came, I saw, I conquered.)” and the concequence of that is Trees are gone; Wildlife are gone; Mountains are gone.

人所為確實觸動人，我們改變地貌，甚至是鏟平一整座山。近幾個月工作之餘在凌晨太陽升起前後，設法捕捉了些幾秒鐘的大地影像，簡易編輯後與大家分享。

"Incomplete" 不完整

Painting the whole thing in Photoshop from the setting I made several days ago.

The Left one was broken because I was backing up the car and ran over it, the right one I got it cheap from a native american store with 7 dollars since it was broken.

剛搬到舊金山的那幾天,左邊的音樂盒掉在車庫被車壓過去,已經轉不動也撥不出聲音了,右邊的應該是山貓的頭骨,在幾年前於北邊黃石公園入口處的一家印地安人商店買的,因為破損,用了7元美金購買下來.

A trip with my sister and her family, and it was raining.

We didn't really go out, so I stay in the room and painted this one.

Right after this one, I also did a small oil painting with the same view.

2D Artist Magazine Issue 68

The topic is about how to paint children for 2D Artist magazine. You can find this tutorial in issue 68.

I did one thing which I think it fun to try. I mixed with a photo of my oil paintings, and I think it create some nice texture and some nice color blend which is hard to get with Photoshop brush.

This one is from Art of Not Terminal which is a gallery and downstairs has regular Life Drawing and Life Painting session on Monday Night in Seattle.

This one was done in one and half sessions, each session is around 3 hours.

ASUS EEE Note meets Auguste Rodin

This was done with Asus EEE Note EA800 which has 8 inch gray scale LCD, Linux based system , and Wacom Pen with pressure sensitivity.

Sadly, ASUS didn't continue to advance this product which I though has a lot of potential, and it only costs 230 US Dollars. Current version the hardware was great, but the software support is weak.

I did these drawings from last weekend when I visited Legion of Honor. They have some really good collections in the museum, and I found out Rodin has some of the best composition pieces in this museum.

Gary Faigin is the Artistic Director and cofounder of the Gage Academy of Art, and he runs this sessions.

I paid 6 sessions and only went 3 times.

Energy/Fresh/Raw
This is one of my early Paintings with digital medium from observation with life model.

Every time when I started with new subjects and new media, it always contains more energy and felt fresh. His name is Bob and he lives with her daughter in Seattle now. Later on, I invited him for another painting session.

Have not painted for two months!

Daji and King Zhou of Shang in 1047 BC_妲己與殷紂

There is much Chinese folklore which includes songs, and tales, and it tells stories of historical, human nature, events, or love. Here is a story about Daji and King Zhou of Shang in 1047 BC. Daji was a favorite concuibine of King Zho of Shang. She is a classic example of how beauty causes the downfall of an empire/dynasty in Chinese culture. She is portrayed as an evil fox spirit in Chinese novel Fengshen Yanyi which is translated as The Investiture of the Gods or The Creation of the Gods, also known as Fengshen Bang.


妲己，殷紂之妃也。紂伐有蘇，有蘇女以妲己，美而辯，用心邪僻，夸比於禮，戚施於貌。紂好酒淫樂，不離妲己，其言是從，所譽者貴之，憎者誅之。

乃使師延作朝歌北鄙之音，北里之舞，靡靡之樂。造鹿臺為瓊室玉門，其大三里，高千尺，七年乃成。厚賦稅，以實鹿臺之財，盈鉅橋之粟，燎焚天下之財，罷苦萬民之力。故狗馬奇物，充牣宮室，以人食獸，廣沙丘苑臺，以酒為池，懸肉為林，男女裸相逐於其間。宮中九市，為長夜之飲。百姓怨望，諸侯有叛者。妲己以為罰輕誅薄，故威不立，乃重為刑辟，為熨斗，以火燒燃，使人舉之手爛，更為銅柱以膏塗之，加於炭火之上，使有罪緣之。紂與妲己，以為大樂，名曰炮烙之刑。

Photoshop V.S Oil Painting?

Photoshop V.S Oil Painting??

I did one in 2009 and even they were not great paintings but worth to think about it.
I did the digital paintings in one of the session and use it as an guide for the oil painting, and than bring the oil painting for the second session.

They all have their own characteristics.
I don't think it make a lot of sense to compare like this way but it may answer some of the questions which bother me or other artists for a long time.

The answer was if we like the feel of the oil painting, than go ahead to do an oil painting.
If we like the feel of Photoshop painting, than go ahead to do Photoshop painting.

As an artist today, I believe it is our job to figure what is the digital media means to us.
